I am thinking of buying a PS2 on Ebay and would like to know which models are most reliable and worst. I guess from what i have been reading that this will come down to the laser quality and reliability. Maybe put them in order or have a poll.

I'm interested in Versions 4 to present. I have done a search on goole but have not found this information. This would be most helpful. Thanks.

For what I know, the V7/8 is the best model around. They have excelent lasers
V4 is also good. Try and avoid V9 and 10 because they have the LA508 dvd controller issue.

If your into modding, V7 is the easiest to solder if you want a Decent modchip. Try and avoid solderless modchips thought as they can be a huge pain

I have a V7 PS2. Never had any problems with it until I spilt a glass of coke on it. That kind of messed it up a bit. (you think?) I managed to clean it out though. I'll tell ya, I almost had a heart attach when it happened. Saw the coke flying in slow motion.

if someone is going to buy a ps2 buy the big one because the slim one doesnt play some games

the slim one is much better than the big one and will last lonnger.

how can u tell what versions they are? like you sid the v7/8 is the best, where wuld it tell on the ps2 or the ps2 box what version it is?
