http://www.ps3court.com/images/ps3-compatibility.jpgWell folks, it’s official. Not really new news anymore, but Sony has announced the release date (well sort of) of the long awaited PlayStation 3. The delay on the initial PS3 release was due to copyright protection issues with Sony’s Blu-Ray disk. Sony Computer Entertainment President, Ken Kutagari officially confirmed the PS3 will be shipping world wide in November 2006.

Ken Kutagari also told reporters that Sony is preparing an Xbox Live-like online gaming service for the console which is expected to be called the PlayStation Network Platform. He also stated Sony planed to have a “Basic Service’ for the online service, which will allow game play to be free.

In launching all territories at the same time, Sony could face a similar fate of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 shortage upon its launch. In order to avoid such a problem, Sony plans to manufacture 1 million units each month in order to keep shelves stocked. Ken Kutagari said the goal was to ship 6 million PS3s worldwide by March 2007.

This is bad. So far everyone is saying "Oh well, it will just be better for it." Well, thats kinda true but not really. Sure they will work the bugs out of it and overall it will be a better product for the consumers but this will really hurt Sony. The 360 will have had a one year head start by then, that is a huge lead. Also since Sony has already built the specs for this they can no longer say "Oh lets just add some more RAM here" Its too late for that. I have also read plenty of annalists opinions and most of them believe that this launch will not be met either. Personally I really dont think we will see the PS3 in 2006.

Truthfully, I'm skeptical about whether or not Sony will deliver all the goods this November. Microsoft promised a leg in a half and are now just delivering. I'm not complaining, because I've had a thrill playing my 360. It just felt like forever waiting. So, I'm just hoping Sony delivers the goods with a reasonable price tag. I still believe the system will definitely be higher than the 360. I just hope it's closer to the price of it than farther.

I agree. My 360 is doing me much more than fine for now. But to be honest I really dont think that we will see the PS3 till 2007. Unfortunatly.

Not that good???????!!!!!!!!!!! Are you crazy! This game is amazing! This one game alone is reason enough to run out and buy a 360. Forget loyalty, loyalty to a country is loyalty, loyalty to a console is stupid. Play games for the games not for the console they are on.

Dont close out the 360, it is a very great system that will without doubt give the PS3 some very very tough competition.

y not AA7? they were almsot done the ps3 anyway threy jsut had a blu-ray problem and sometihng else THEY GOT A WHOLE SUMMER TO FIX THAT! so dont worry it'l come our soon
