Personaly I think they havent made a leap this big since the game console was invented. With the extremly powerfull graphics cards, to HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, to WiFi capabilities, to online gaming. There have been some major acomplishments in the past few years. AA7 03-25-2006, 06:15 AM Yeah, but then again back then the technology available was not as advanced as it is today. Especially in the online department. curlfro 03-28-2006, 12:58 PM Is it just me or when they talked about next-gen back in former next-gens it was really "next-gen" and not just improved graphics with funner gameplay? i couldn't agree with you more. as i've said many time (probably too many times) the 360 just isn't nest-gen. it's got the graphics, but no new gameplay. no new physics. no nothing. why ms, why? b3rat3 03-28-2006, 02:30 PM It's simple.. Ghost Recon did re-invent itself, I hated Ghost Recon until Advanced Warfighter came out. The commands are a lot easier to give and overall it's just a lot better. But the reason that it's not next-gen.. It just started.. Give it a few months. It's getting there. Apparently you haven't seen games like Rainbow Six: Vegas, or Crysis, which are due out on the X360 later this year. There are a few games out there that are next-gen worthy, and they will continue to grow in size as the system progresses each month. You can't count it out just because it's launch titles weren't amazing I mean come on. Think about it.. PlayStation2 = FantaVision. XBoX = Halo While it's not even a question which system had a better release, they both still left plenty of room for improvement, regardless of the title. You can't tell me you were blown away. To take another look at a gaming systems improvements.. You take the Nintendo 64 and bring out one of the wrestling games it had in the beginning.. '98 - WWF War Zone '00 - WWF No Mercy Anyone who has ever picked up those games and played them on the N64 cannot argue which one was better, considerably. No Mercy completely kicked the ass of War Zone on several levels.. So while everything on the 360 may not seem Next-Gen at this point, it will eventually, and I don't think it will take them 2 years to figure it out. Oh and one more thing, in my opinion of PS2 versus the PS1. There's no contest. The PS2 seemed a great deal more advanced than the PS1 and while there were certain games I enjoyed on the PS1, there were certainly a lot more on the PS2.. So all in all, hands down PS2.
