Here are some contributions i'm making to the thread

1. Lateral thinking puzzle: What was the tallest mountain before Mount Everest was discovered?

2. Riddle: A Rich man posted an add fora million dollars in a newspaper. The man had nailed the check to a beam at the top of a shed. You had to figure out how he got the check up there? The walls were unclimbable, there were no windows, and whatever he brought into the shed he had to keep in. All that there was, was a big puddle underneath the check

3. Riddle: A father and his son were in a car crash the father died instantly but the son was taken to the hospital. When the son was sent to the operating room. The docter looked at him and said " i can't operate on him hes my son". How is this possible?

number 4 is a clock

Number 1 was still mt. everest (unless somewhere out there is a taller mountain. Actually in the ocean there are taller mountains so everest isn't tallest.

Number 2: either the guy was really tall or the beam was really low?

number 3: the kid had 2 dads (it is possible nowadays)

Was the tallest mountain Mt. Killamanjaro. I know it is know as one of the tallest mountains in the world. It also could have been thought to be the Mythical Mt. Olympus, although what they conceived it to be didnt actually exist.

(This is a widely common riddle, but I though I'd share it)

There was a creature who lived in the forest that could grant any wish. But, there also was his brother, who was an evil hearted creature that attacked anyone who mistook him for his brother. Now, a young man found both of the creatures, and he had to decide who was the wish-granting creature, and who was the creature who would eat him if he was wrong. Now, the young man was only allowed to ask each them one question. But the catch was that the wish-granting creature always told the truth, but the cruel-hearted creature always told lies. The young man asked his question, and he found out who was the wish-granting creature and which one was the evil one. What question did he ask?

Also, here's an extremely easy one.

What has a soul, tounge, and heel, but is not alive? (I told you, easy)

What can move through the forest with ease, but never breaks a twig?

What can I fit ten in my hand, but only need one to fill my house?

What grows when it eats, but dies when it drinks?

close, but no cigar. just remember, one always told the truth, and one always lied. so if he did ask which one granted wishes, they'd both say yes. the real one was telling the truth, but the fake one lied and said he was as well. keep guessing! also, the shoe one was correct (i told you, if you think for a sec. you'd get it. i just thought of it cause there was a shoe on the ground next to me)

EDIT:
also, if you've ever seen the 1980's movie "Laberinth" you should know this.

here's a few.

The one who makes it sells it.
The one who buys it doesn't use it.
The one who's using it doesn't know he's using it.
What is it?

The paragraph below is most unusual. How quickly can you find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so ordinary you'd think nothing was wrong with it - and in fact, nothing is wrong with it. It is unusual though. Why?

"Gatsby was walking back from a visit down in Branton Hill's manufacturing district on a Saturday night. A busy day's traffic had had its noisy run; and with not many folks in sight, His Honor got along without having to stop to grasp a hand, or talk; for a mayor out of City Hall is a shining mark for any politician. And so, coming to Broadway, a booming bass drum and sounds of singing, told of a small Salvation Army unit carrying on amidst Broadway's night shopping crowds. Gatsby, walking towards that group, saw a young girl, back toward him, just finishing a long, soulful oration ... "

A horse is tied to a 15 ft. rope and there is a bail of hay 25 ft. away from him. Yet the horse is able to eat from the bail of hay. How is this possible?

What is it that makes tears without sorrow and takes its journey to heaven?

A man and a woman were driving in their car when it broke down. The man decided to go for help at a gas station a few miles back. He made sure nobody was in the car, rolled all the windows up, and locked all of the sedan's doors. He went off, but when he came back, his wife was dead, and there was a stranger in the car. No physical damage was done to the car, so how did the stranger get in?

There's a body lying dead on a bed, and on the floor beside it is a pair of scissors. The scissors were instrumental in his death, yet there's no trace of blood. The body reveals no signs of any cuts or bruises. How could the person have been murdered with the pair of scissors?

This one is impossible!!! to figure out.
While exploring the wilds of Canada, Wild Man Dave was captured by hostile wood fairies. Brad, the powerful chief of the fairies told him he could make one final statement which would determine how he would die. If the statement he made was false, he would be boiled in water. If the statement were true, he would be fried in oil. Wild Man Dave found neither of this options too his liking, so he made a statement that got him out of this seemingly impossible situation. What is the one statement he could have made

If you're 8 feet away from a door and with each move you advance half the distance to the door. How many moves will it take to reach the door.

If you were to spell out numbers, how far would you have to go until you would find the letter "A"?

"Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is."

A man walks up to you and says - "everything I say to you is a lie."
Is he telling you the truth or is he lying?

A woman has 7 children, half of them are boys.
How can this be possible?

A farmer and his hired help were carrying grain to the barn. The farmer carried one sack of grain and the hired help carried two sacks. Who carried the heavier load and why?

A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50."

The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less.In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?

There is a common English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word - from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time?

Bill bets Craig $100 that he can predict the score of the hockey game before it starts. Craig agrees, but loses the bet. Why did Craig lose the bet?

A woman shoots her husband.
Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes.
Finally, she hangs him.
But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together.
How can this be?

Do you think I've put enough yet?

wow, that would work, but that wasn't the answer i was looking for.

OK, i'll spoil it for you know.

You would ask "Who would your brother say the wish-granting creature was?" This way, the truth speaking creature would have to act like his brother and lie, while the lieing one would have to speak the truth, but since he always lies, he will still lie. So, just pick the opposite creature they both said.

no listen the dog died, did the dog die?

hold on. the quote said (after being deciphered) "The dog died. Did the dog Die?" you just said that the dog died. so, that means the answer to the question is yes, the dog did die.

Yes, I know this is an old thread, but I felt like reviving it for some of the new members.
