Is the only reason why all this disappointment in release date and price. Because sony is debating over witch disk format to use? I see blu-ray and hddvd threads and posts all over thought id make this thread. With the supposed november worldwide launch does that mean they finally came to a choice or is there more to it than just diskformat?

Truth of the matter to me is: Sony has their hearts set out on pushing the Blu Ray technology. All in all, I think they'll go with it and raise the price of their console just a bit. They may loose some customers at the start, but when the prices drop, they'll gain them back. They should also draw a profit if everything goes according to their plan, which I'm sure it will.

I dont know..........sony has had some very very bad history with introducing new formats. Betamax, Mini disc, Atrac, Atrac 3, memory stick. The list goes on and on and on...........

Why must you torment me with horrible past experiences? The Atrac format made me almost kill somebody! I never found a solution on how to convert the files on my claw-scracthed CD to MP3. I lost over 600 songs that were hard to come by. Sony can kiss my a... or I can just look to the future and hope for a better tomorrow with the PS3. Blu Ray is the future or so they claim it.

i think there gonna come out with blu-ray they want sometin and sometin that microsoft didn't do so they r probabyl gonna go wiht blu-ray all in all its goonna wrk out in the end like helghast had said

It could work out ok but I really doubt blu ray will become the new standard format. HD DVD has better picture quality, is cheaper and is backed by alot, alot more companies, including the world leader in computer technology, software and the richest corporation in the world: Microstoft.

all i know about the ps3's hardware is that it's supposed to use blue-ray technology, but i haven't heard of it using hd dvd format yet. man these post show me how far behind in technology i am.

I've heard some rumors (Speaking of price) and thats all they are at this point, rumors.... Aparently, someone at EB Games in Canada stated the PS3 was going to be selling for around $499 in Canadian, and pre sames would begin just after E3. Not sure how true it is, but I've heard in a number of places the same info regarding presales and E3. Hopefully there will be an announcement on the price durring the conferance.

No Way. Not a chance. Not unless Sony wants to go out of business due to bankruptcy a month after the PS3 launches. Not to sound rude but whoever told you this is a liar.

Remember, the cheapest device that uses blu-ray is about 1000 dollars now. Blu-ray is new and expensive to use. Personally, I don't think it smart of sony to use something so expensive. They'll definitely have to make the ps3 alot more than the 360 so they don't lose tons of money on the consoles.

Yea... thats why im starting to doubt how they'll be able to make the system even less than 800 bucks. Supposedly each one is costing 900 to make and they aren't even finished yet.

i think sony shot themselves in the foot one the format thing. there practically focing it on us now and in the end theyre gonna sell a lot of ps3s just as blu ray players but oh well.
