Nintendo has been king in the portable gaming industry. So for those of you who own a PSP, what were the reasons behind your purchase of that instead of the mob favorite Nintendo?

I like Sony for consules, but for portable I have to admit Nintendo is better than PSP, in that usually you buy a portable for your kid, and Nintendo has more age appropriate games for them, plus the Big Brain franchise which is good for them. Hard core gamers for the most part skip the portable all together and opt for consules attached to televisions.

That's my take.

Happy gaming!

This is all just my opinion, im getting a psp shortly because first of all you can play online witch in some cases that can be a big bonus. But come you have to admit that PSP has better games than the DS ( except mario games i really do love those games.) so thats like a huge advantage i meen, come on right...

My reasons:
1) I grew up, nintendo was just too weak for me
2)More features on psp
3)Sony>microsoft>nintendo
4)The games

That's why I choose psp over DS. I'm getting a psp in a week or so.

i had the ds lite, sold it for psp lite. psp has better features, it can be used for stuff OTHER than just gaming. the stylus controls on the DS dont seem to..... um... i guess "fit in" with gaming. but whatever, my opinion.

I thought that Nintendo had outsold itself and the PSP had way more features. :)

The new PSP is nice as it's less bulkier.

So the DS no longer has the "lite" advantage, however, the DS aims at providing "fun games" while the PSP aims for games with a longer story line and with enhanced graphics.

Therefore, it seems that the PSP is better but in reality it all comes down to what kind of games you want to play on the go. I'd go for the DS as I want to play entertaining games on the go, and if I want to play some in depth games I'd go for a console game..

The PSP tries to simulate the console aspect, and it does a decent job, but it fails to bring "fun" titles IMO.

It only has a couple.. While the DS has a lot more, and some games really use the stylus such as Touch The Dead, and the new Zelda. While others don't..so it's definitely not a perfect system. But as I said it gets the job done for keeping you entertained on the go.

I actually have both, the PSP in my eyes offers outstanding image quality and games for the hardcore gamer. I use it for long journey's and when I'm not at a console and get the urge for some good gaming fun. However... the Nintendo DS offers a more light hearted gaming experience I find best for small train journeys or when time needs to pass quickly.

I dont think the two need to compete, the types of games and markets are so very different.
