After I got a PS3 I realized that I can't get the benefit of playing blueray disks because my TV doesn't have an HDMI input. Does anyone know if there is something that can let me watch in high def on my HD ready Sony 32 Wega? It has inputs for component video, not HDMI. Thanks. Nice to be amongst future friends.

You need a PS3 HD Component Cable (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8223013&st=PS3+component&lp=1&type=product&cp=2&id=1166840115294) available at any best buy.

I knew about that already but the signal gets down converted which is not high def. I found something called BOX1080 that actually will allow for high definition on a tv that otherwise is incapable of it. It can take any dvd player that has an HDMI out and will produce high def on any HD ready tv that has component but not HDMI connecitons! It is awesome.

does your TV have a DVI port? If so u can convert HDMI to DVI

Yeah - the DVI port would be the only other option for full resolution - the difference between component and HDMI is not going to be obvious to the average user...most games I've seen are only in 720p which will make this difference even less noticeable.

TVs are really cheap - you can grab a 40" for like 750-800, treat yourself!!

Hi, I use an HD component playstation cable and I get 1080 resolution. I think you're confusing this with a 'composite' cable which is the regular cable you get with the playstation. You need to go buy one from Best Buy ($20) that splits the signal into L/R + R/G/B - it has five connectors on the TV end of the cable. Then you have to go into the setup menu and select the resolutions that your TV supports. Mine goes up to 1080i just fine. I can see that it's true HD. You don't have to have HDMI.

well 1080i isnt actually true HD...it's interlaced...but, yes...like I said, it will be good, just not best

Hi,

The only reason I use 1080i is because that's the highest my TV will support. 1080p *is* an option over component RGB - I tried it but my TV didn't support it.

Incidentally, I've tried both 1080i and 1080p and my eyes can't tell the difference. Has anyone else tried that test?

There's basically no difference. The price difference between 1080p and 1080i is significant though and definitely not worth it. Theoretically 1090p should be better though, but it isn't.

The ridiculous thing is they're all ready developing TV's that display over 4000p, apparently it's so realistic it makes people sick and dizzy... Brilliant :p
