http://www.ps3court.com/images/playstationrelease.jpgNot to long ago, George Fornay, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe VP said the Ps3 would cost roughly 499 – 599 Euros placing the PS3 at a price tag between $610 and $730 USD. To most gamers this news came as a huge shock, placing the PS3 out of reach for many anticipating its launch.

Since this announcement, Sony released a statement through Nick Sharples, Communications Director for Sony denying the price as accurate. Nick Sharples claims the words used by George Fornay were taken out of context, and the price that was quoted was for nothing other then Blue Ray disk players which will be selling at around the $1000 mark.

The interviewer asked whether a price point of around $500, not euros, is about right for the PS3. George explained that with all of the high-definition and Blu-ray disc functionality of the PS3, that a $500 price would be very cheap and a very good value".

Sharples also stated "At no point did he ever refer to a specific price for [the PS3]. He was referring to a 500 dollar price that the interviewer had questioned to him, explaining the relative value of the PS3 console in relation to Blu-ray disc players on the high-end and consoles on the low-end".

Maybee cheap for a stupid Blu Ray player but not for a console. This console is going to be much. mcuh too expensive. I am really starting to get a powerful feeling of disgust towards Sony. They lie about PS3 CG movies, they lie about release dates, they lie about games and now they pathetically try to cover up their execs tracks with propaganda about their crappy, mega expensive DVD player. Sony needs to do something to really impress me soon or they will be minus one fan.

actually, he said that it would be $500 american. not euros (plz correct me if i'm wrong, cuz i'm pretty sure that's what he said.

just because it will be 500 euros in europes doesn't mean america will have an equivelant of that. Usually waht happens is that the american and europ prices are the same numbers sp the ps3 would be 500 or 600 i honestly think it will not surpass 600 american. For example the 360 cost the same in europe as in america 299 and 399 euros and 299 and 399 american.

See thats the problem. Most of us arent rich, we cant affor a $600 machine. Plus I dont want a fancy DVD player, I want a PS3 to play games on.

lol, no, im not that bad. Im just sayng that $600+ is alot of money when I have to support myself going to University. Thats alot of money when you dont have money to throw away.
