Hey everyone. I'm new to the forums, as well as to ps3 modding. I did a search for this and didn't come up with much, so I appologize in advance if this has been answered before.

I'm just wondering- those of you that know the ps3 architecture well, is it possible via a hard drive swap to mod the 40gb ps3 to play ps2 games? I know that the emulation is done in software now, but I don't know if that software is on the hard drive or not. Thanks

No i dont believe so. At least not yet. Just pay the extra $100 if you want backwards compatibility, or find a used PS2 on craigslist or something for less than $100, thatd work too.

Thanks for the help. I don't really have an urgent need to play ps2 games now, i was just curious about where the ps3 modding community stood on that. I used to be big into the xbox modding scene a while back, but I know nothing about where ps3 mods are right now.
