View Full Version : BIG Call of Duty 4 UPDATE

Left face and salute Infinity Ward, curators of awesome-o war game Call of Duty 4, as they have update plans for their epic title.

The update starts with the usual online game update, a switching of maps and updating playlists etc etc, but the real meat comes with some gameplay and networking updates. Firstly is 'host migration', where by before you would be completely disconnected when the host left, now the next suitable host is selected. Also, some connection issues with large parties have been supposedly smoothed out as well. Lastly, some bugs like the one with corrupt class data kicking players have been fixed.

Some gameplay elements have been tweaked, like unlimited sprint in old school mode, larger magazines and a ragdoll cam. Sniper Rifles have been adjusted to be slightly more accurate, and more spawn points have been added in all the maps. Also, a 'bug' where sprinting was longer with different weapons (“everyone runs faster with a knife”) has been fixed so sprint length is the same.

The most amusing new feature is an updated kill cam, which will show you exactly what killed you. Even bombs from air strikes. It will actually show said bomb dropping from the aircraft and smacking straight into your gormless face. Awesome.

Brilliant. Infinity ward has all ways been good in this sense. This just make COD 4 even better, which is difficult to imagine...

Hmm I wouldn't say thats too big. The thing I'm looking forward to is more spawn points, I hate when I spawn right next to an enemy.

Sounds Good. But doesn't apply to me seeing as how I dont have COD 4. I only rented it for 2 weeks. UT 3 is really good and thats what I'm playing now. But I'm surprised you didn't get UT 3 Ascend (because you can mod maps and make your own) It just seems like something you would do.

I hope this is true for the 360 version as well. I'm tired of laggy games and sniper bullets passing through people. I'm not the best sniper, but when you aim perfectly at a guy standing still, and it misses, wtf?

Also I'm getting it for Christmas :).
Im looking forward to this update because I play this game whenever I get the chance. And the sniping thing is big for me because I recently unlocked the .50 cal Barret and I have been using that ever since.

I love the .50 Cal, it's soooo much fun, but not as powerful as I imagined. It'll take two shots to kill someone sometimes, even if you have stopping power on. I love it though, and I've never liked to snipe before. But now I just mess around with it, even in Shipment!

Actually Ascend it was copyright issues but on the forums they said they were clearing it up. They expct the mods for ps3 to be up soon. They are also maing a program so you dont have to buy UT 3 for PC to make mods. The link says about the new software. That is one of sites you can put your mods. The second link is the forums where you will be able to post mods for ps3 soon.

ya i herd this was just gunna be a small update but i guess any update is a good update. and i hate the 50 cal, it has so much recoil every time you shoot. neleive it or not i use the sniper you start off with. if you have deeper bullet penatration and stopping power its usually 1 hit plus no recoil. thats just me :)

^I can't snipe with any other but the fitty cal. It just seems so easy, i just got the 25+ headshots and 100+ kills challenge complete. For some reason sniping comes easy with it.

im gunna have plenty of time to use it i guees, i dont think want to go into the next prestige mode. its just all for show

ya thats what im gunna do. maybe some time in the futur when i have nothing else better to do ill go on prestige mode 2 but i would feel like i have no life when your prestige #10. yet there is alreay like 17 people that haven. and they've all played for over 10 days. waste of time

Not only 10 days, but 10 days of gameplay. Now thats 10 days of their life...playing call of duty 4. I wonder if it was worth it lol.

It seems like every other game on the market is getting a patch with titles like Warhawk and Assassin’s Creed to name a few. So why not one of the better games of 2007, Call of Duty 4, jump into the frame? That is where Infinity Ward’s Community Relations Director, Robert Bowling comes into the fray as he let loose on details regarding the Call of Duty 4 patch.

Bowling explains that the list given features patch upgrades that will be available in the new patch, while some that are listed won’t appear until a future release. He also stated that The Playlist changes apply to both the 360 and the PS3 versions, but the PS3 will “have different patch changes."

With no further delay, here is what you can expect in the upcoming multiplayer patch:

Now here are patch updates that you can expect in the future:

Addition of Host Migration

* If Host of lobby leaves, all players will be deposited back to the lobby where next best host will be selected before new game restarts. Players will no longer be kicked out of game entirely.

Improved Network Performance For Larger Games

* 18 player games now require more bandwidth to host, resulting in smoother performance for players.

Optimized Server Selection for First Match

* Server selection is now optimized to select best bandwidth servers associated by LSP.

Updated Spectator "Chase Cam"

* Change Spectator Mode: Switch between First Person and Third Person.
* 360 Degree rotation around character you're spectating.

Fixed "Playlist Older Than Host" Error

* Player will no longer get error when entering games.

Optimized Corrupt Create-a-Class Handling

* Players will no longer be kicked from game when their create-a-class data is corrupted.

Added Kill Cam To Everything

* Kill Cam view Added: Air Strike Bombs (Follows bomb from plane to target)

I'm assuming future. But then again if you look at my first post it says some of those features are coming in the new update.

The recoil is ridiculous, like the recoil on the Thompson in Day of Defeat. You spray a little and the bullets stray about 2 feet at about 3 feet distance, it's basically impossible to use.

Recoil aint a big deal for me though. It literally takes me two shots max to kill someone with the .50 cal.

I think they just did a small update maybe 3 or 4 days ago. Its really nice getting into a game now takes about 5 seconds, I love it!
