Can you play multiplayer over home network or wirless if ps3 in next room?. (ps3 vs ps3) and not have to use the internet ? using wireless or thought home network??

When you select multiplayer sometimes you get the option to play LAN. LAN is when you play with another ps3 in your house. I may be mistaken but as far as I know you can do that.
