Piracy has become a big deal since the turn of the century and it was undoubtedly the downfall of the SEGA Dreamcast. However, it didn't stop there in the gaming world as we saw other consoles modded to play burned games or to just have games copied directly to their HDDs. Sony has seen a large amount of not only piracy but hacking as well. Their PlayStation Portable has been somewhat of a magnet for the deed and Sony is just now wanting to know "why?"

Sony recently sent a survey around that we've included for you below to check out. The survey asks why people hack their PSPs and if it makes them feel like a "rebel."

With the survey shown above, how would your answers play out? Let us know your opinion on the subject in the comment section below and we'll keep you up to date if anything comes of this.

Well in respect to the servay i hax'd my psp because i could not afford the rediculous hardcopy of the game. i mean $30 for a mini disc copy of the game is far to much of the cost.

I do support piracy in two factor. 1. it is a green event: Million of hard copys are throw away US wide everyday for everyhour. There are actually more hardcopy disc in landfill then there are job avaiable. Now world wide you can collect all the disc and fashion housing out of this used disc and create a full suburban area the size of china.
2. Sony is not really hemorrhaging money, they own consule, protable consule, phone, software, component. They make roughtly and i am not calculating this but over 34million a day on this products. So what if two of there products are hacked, they still will make a ravinue of 20mill easily. Only a few people know of any hacks to there system.

Sony isnt a good finacial company either way, they spend millions on upgrading network security and reviewing boards to detoir hax'r like myself from overwriting there consule. Instead of paying off more developers to keep there company afloat and more game developers. Im seeing less and less better looking games and more and more recreation of the same graphic games. MW3 was a big hit but floped when the graphs were as similar to the xbox360, mw2 :/ i seriously thought they would improve. But they are never going to do that.
