You’re trying to hear you’re opponents every move through your headphone and the slightest noise completely distracts you. Now imaging the fans for you’re console kicking in, creating that ever annoying whining noise. No way to shut it off, no way to dampen the sound, and no choice other then to put up with it.
This may all be a thing of the past with the PS3. Its rumored Sony’s new console is the quietist of all Next Gen consoles, and may even be quieter then the Slimline PS2. This being one of the biggest complaints from Xbox 360 users, Sony must have been listening and built around the issue in order to prevent it.
As Sony is also trying to push the PS3 as a multimedia center, it makes it that much more important for the console to remain silent. Whether MP3’s are playing on your stereo, or your favorite movie is playing on the TV, the last thing anyone wants to hear is a few fans blowing non stop. If this is the case, good on Sony for dealing with a long standing issue.
