PlantPage55 10-27-2006, 04:01 PM idk...probably not, in my estimation. I think people that wanted next gen gaming at that time were going to get a ps2 no matter what it looked like. And it isn't like it had competition that was LESS bulky. PS3_Master 10-27-2006, 04:45 PM I dont think it would have done better at all. In my opinion, slim, small and light weight technoloty is pretty cool. Then again, the bigger heavier types of technology also have their following, and the saying "Bigger is better" always lurks in the back of people's minds. The PS2 Slim was more of a cosmetic upgrade to try and drive sales higher. Even people with the original PS2 bought the Slim, which is what Sony was looking for. Marketing a product right can cause people who already own the product to purchase another. Its all about driving sale up. Tsura 10-27-2006, 06:00 PM anyway the original ps2 wasnt really huge. so i dont think it would change that much. it would be a different story for...say the xbox. that is a big system, and the main reason they sucked in the japanese market was becuase the japanese didnt want a massive black box in there apartments. yokofox33 10-27-2006, 09:32 PM I honestly don't think it would have mattered, but I would have been more attracted to the slim version if given the choice. I would like a slim PS2, but my big clunky has served me well, so I'll keep it for sentimental purposes. lilninja 10-28-2006, 04:09 AM It wouldn't have matter all . Tbh i think the slimline looks weedy. jade 11-01-2006, 12:22 PM Bigger is Better in my book... bbaes 11-14-2006, 07:14 PM Allow me to be the first to disagree, but I think it would have been better for sales. It's quieter, more compatible, and something like its size just grabs attention from people. Not to mention the biggest factor here, it comes internet-ready which makes it all the more worth while. I just bought a slim-line because my original had dropped and been repaired prior, so I didnt bother, and the online experience gives you a rush. Fliko 11-14-2006, 07:22 PM Well, at the time of the PS2 launch, I imagine slimmer = way more expensive due to technology limits. Now, obviously Slim is better, but Sony messed up on Slim Silver Consoles somehow, and some of them can't play certain PS2 and PS1 games. DaChosenOne 11-14-2006, 07:24 PM whats the point of having something slim if it wont work on all games. that suxs. stick with the modify orginal. bbaes 11-14-2006, 07:29 PM I couldn't even find a silver one at the store. curlfro 11-15-2006, 05:31 PM I dont think it would have done better at all. The only reason I would ever get a Slim is if I broke my current one. ~ I'm surprised mine hasn't broke with all of the abuse I've put it through. I've dropped it, threw my contoller at it, stepped on it, spill soda on it, and had my 1 year old brother hitting it. (And he's a bruiser.) |
