Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help me. I own a camper van and would like to play my PS3 slim in it. I would like to run the PS3 on 12v.

I don't want the overhead of running an inverter and so want to run the PS3 directly on 12v. I have taken my PS3 slim apart and noted that the power supply supplies a 12v output to the motherboard.

What I would like to do is to remove the power supply and plumb my battery via a voltage regulator straight into the motherboard.

I also note there is a four pin connector from the power supply to the motherboard. From what I can gather this supplies 5.5v, ground and possibly a control line to the power supply to tell it to turn on/off and posibly to supply 5.5v to the controller charging circuit.

So, what I'm looking for is the actual pinout from the small 4 pin connector and also anyones opinion as to whether this will work asuming I supply 5.5 and 12v regulated to the appropriate points. My power supply model is APS-250 (E135516)

Mapping out the pinout will be alittle difficult since not all ps3 are alike. The information for the power supply offer little to some help on where you can run your voltage.

A car battery is 12v DC but it has an ampere *amp* of 40 and up determining the direction of useage. To minimize a board burnout you will need a power resister(over 3watt) and a fuse to drop down the amp and voltage to a safe 12,5.5,3 volt that the system requires. To actually where to tap idk since again Not all ps3 are alike thanks to sony and there anti "hack" .

If you are planning this out right, i suggest taking the ps3 slim apart, just taking off the top shell really. Getting if not already have a multi meter and sourcing out the direct voltage from the connection point of the internal power supply, this will help you get a direct readout of what the foward voltage is needed.

I think what you can really do is use the cigerrite lighter (since its 12v) buy an adapter for the lighter and wire directly to a fuse and split off wireing inside with a 1watt power resister.

If you do this please show us how it will come out :) this is very intresting
