after hearing the news that the ps3 wont be shipping with the hdmi cable, i've been trying to find a cheap one online before its launch. The thing is i dont know the correct type of cable that the ps3 uses.
would this one work?

As far as I know there is only one type of HDMI cable. It comes in diffrent lengths. the longer the more cost.

Your link is broken, and jetman is right. HDMI Is HDMI. The only difference is the length. Prices only vary by how long the cable is. Buy the cheapest one that is long enough for your needs

Some HDMI cables do not do full HD (1080p), mine only does 1080i so prices can vary on maximum output aswell. I paid £20 for the 1080i lead when a 1080p lead would have set me back another £10. I dont know whether its different in the states or something but i just thought i'd mention pricing comes down to the output aswell as length.
