Microsoft now sells a 360 "fan" to cool down the system after complaints of overheating, game melting, and even fires! Selling the fans basically gives into the outcries and says, OK, we screwed up, now by this to fix it.

One more reason to go PS3 this season!

Other problems: internet sold seperately, wireless, costing 99 dollars.
short battery life of controllers
limited game play because of overheating...

There's actually many different brands.

I ll add splinter cell to the mix as well. And Godfather.

Do you have a link for that fan thing?
...is there a picture?
I just ask because I may be very interested in that

There coming out with a newer version of the 360 in 07 which should run alot cooler and faster with its new processor.

ugh...not fair! I think they should send me a free one, because I'll bet I've sent my system in more times than ANYONE!

A recall would be nice. Free charge, too.

It's not as though Microsoft doesn't have the bank to spare ;)

j/k-that would be a huge hole in their budget

Not if they do what WalMart did to China.

j/k, I'm against WalMart's actions.

Yea it would be nice if u could trade in your old xbox 360 to get the newer better ones. But basically Microsoft screwed us and the developers are screwing them.

My 360 is fine, and its of the First Generations.

They mostly did the cooling unit thing to reduce the size of the 360, instead of doing what Sony did, and making half the console a cooling unit to make it 'noiseless'. Sony also added a bigger heatsink, which, well all-the-more effective and better in my opinion, it makes it weigh a ton more

Just don't put your heating on 25C and don't put your 360 on a carpet and you should be fine.

Well my 360 was one of the first generations also. Had problem with overheating and caught the red ring of death like many others. Good thing i got that best buy warranty i was able to get a new one the next day.

My friend is going through the same dilemma. He left it on for extended hours one night, and it doesn't work the same. The red ring shows up, and he's going to send it in to Microsoft for repair. That sucks.

Now if only the powerbrick could be improved...

PS3 has done just that. They have one small cord from console to wall. thats it. There's the power. No "brick."

What a powerbrick? The thing they need to fix with the xbox 360 is when u click on the dashboard while in a game it tends to cause the box to freeze.

You can't miss it. It's the huge power adapter the 360 possesses that possibly weighs more than the Sony PS2 slim.

And wats wrong with the powerbrick? Are you just mad that its too big?

Oh no, not at all. It's just an aesthetic thing, that's all :D

Actually I had read up on the crashes.

Microsoft has just come out within the last two months saying, I believe, that it will fix all 360 consoles made before January of 06 free of charge. Of course I bought mine on release day and it worked great until July. I sent it in and paid for it's repair but I haven't had the overheating problem everybody else talks about. I think if you keep it well ventilated you'll have no problems, mine sure hasn't had any.
