Hm, it all depends on your income. If you have the money, you should get the 1080p.

(Make sure to get a 1080p, not a 1080i, because the PS3 only plays 1080p)

Sony seems to be having upscaling problems at the moment; that means that even though you have a 1080p HDTV, the PS3 will downscale the image and you won't get the best quality. It hasn't happened with the 1080p resolution (that is, no one's reported it YET...), only with the 720p resolution, which gets downscaled to 480p. But who knows? I suggest you wait until the bugs get ironed out (if ever, knowing Sony) before you spend so much cash...It would be a shame to have the capability of 1080p only to realize you can't use it because your PS3 is having problems...
