[TUTORIAL] Copy your music and videos from you iPod Directly to you PS3

Detailed below are the instructions to copy all of your music and videos from your iPod to you PS3. This will work with the following Apple iPods. The PS3 will read the ID3 tags on the files and auto name them for you. If the names show up wrong or weird its because the ID3 Tags are in the wrong format. They need to be in ACC format to be read correctly by the PS3.

30 gig Generation 5.5
80 gig Generation 5.5
30 gig Generation 5
80 gig Generation 5
Redesigned iPod Nano

Video Transfer:

1) Connect your Apple iPod to your PS3 via USB Cable just like you would to your PC
2) You PS3 will show you Apple iPod connected as a USB Device.
3) Press the triangle button on your PS3 Controller and hit display all when highlighting the iPod in the video portion of the XMB
4) Find the iPod_Control folder and enter it.
5) Open the Music Folder
6) Select each folder beginning with the letter F and select "Copy All"
7) When your PS3 has finished copying the video files, go to the Video section in the XMB, and all your videos will appear there.

If you have a lot of music or videos on your iPod, be warned it will take a while to download them all.

If your looking for your music, for to the "Music" menu on your PS3's XMB (Main menu). under that you will see the ipod connected as "USB Device". Hightlight that device, press the triangle buttong on your controller and select the "Display all" link which will display all the folders on your iPod.. All of your music will be under the iPod_Control/music folder (Everything is divided up into the f00 f01 f02 f03 folders and so on)

Just remember that if your iPod isnt one of the following versions, it wont work.

30 gig Generation 5.5
80 gig Generation 5.5
30 gig Generation 5
80 gig Generation 5
Redesigned iPod Nano

Mmm, well I have a 5th Gen 30GB - still not showing up - I tried enabling disk mode on my computer first and then disabling it - no change.

It's formatted to work with a Mac...could this be a problem? I don't think so because it's my understanding that the PS3 is PPC, not intel...

It was nothing official - just comments on a YouTube explanation of how to do it...

Any idea why mine won't work still? What about the iPod being formatted for Mac vs Windows?

It probably is because it's Mac formated. I haven't tried it for mine, but I will soon. Let ya know soon.

Yeah I just read in Yahoo answers that mac formatted iPods (which is most of them) won't work with the PS3 - I'm really upset haha....

Any other ways to get content on there? Can anything see the PS3 as a network drive? Come on smart people...help a brother out...
