What was reported to be a defection to Blu-Ray by Paramount from the HD DVD format appears to have been incorrect according to Brenda Ciccone, a spokeswoman for Paramount in a conversation with Bloomberg Tuesday.

 

Yesterday the Financial Times had reported Paramount had jumped ship by canceling their contracts with HD DVD in order to sign on with Blu-Ray. The Financial Times had stated Paramount had a clause in its contract with HD DVD giving them the ability to release the format in favor Blu-Ray in the event Warner Bro’s decided to back Sony’s format A contract was signed between Warner Bro’s and Blu-Ray last week.

 

Paramount is set to release a number of could be blockbusters in 2008 including the next chapter in the Indiana Jones series.
